This study investigated if open ended questions targeting semantic or episodic memory result in more positve responses during group reminiscence therapy for individuals with probable AD. Two of three participants responded more positively to questions targeting episodic memory, however, as a whole, they responded with equal relevancy to both question types.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to define episodic and semantic memory
Participants will be able to describe if semantic or episodic questions are more effective at eliciting meaningful verbal participation during group treatment for dementia
Particpants will be able to discuss clinical implications of question-type asking by clinicians using reminiscence during group therapy
