Though short-term memory and language are frequently thought of as separable cognitive processes, resent research demonstrates that the two processes are strongly linked. This talk will cover current research dealing with the interface of short-term memory and language, and the implications of this work on aphasia assessment and treatment.
Learning objectives:
- Participants will be able to demonstrate knowledge of commonly used models of short term memory.
- Participants will be able to identify the processes that subserve both language and short term memory function.
- Participants will be able to demonstrate knowledge of newly developed assessment and treatment tools that target both short term memory and language processes.
